Cats and knitting, fortunately unrelated

I claim to own a black and white cat, but in reality, she is a handsome red-brown.







And I have been doing some knitting.


I sorted, as is my wont, a bunch of yarns by colour and found I had a nice, autumnal selection. So I made a scarf.



It isn't quite as eye-searing as it looks, more muted yellows and browns, but I took the pic inside and that's how it turned out. Considering the variety of yarns used, it turned out quite well, but I'm planning on putting some kind of edging around it, possibly crocheted (if I can remember how) or picked up and cast off, or possibly blanket stitch. I think it needs either a very dark brown or a black, which of course I have not got.

And two or three weeks ago I became enamoured of an entrelac scarf. Well, I started knitting it on Tuesday. So far, I have this much:

So you have a particular pattern for the entrelac scarf? It's gorgeous so far!

Yes, I'm using the one on the link (as far as I remember)—not knitting with Noro, as I didn't have any (and it is rather expensive), but the pattern says gauge doesn't matter, so I'm going with that. The really amazing thing to me is how *fast* it is growing! It's going to be difficult to decide when to stop...

I'm currently (read, "in between pairs of socks") doing the Swiss Cheese Scarf and the Madeira Mantilla.

That Swiss Cheese scarf looks like fun! As for the Mantilla, I lust after lace stuff, but I have found so far that it doesn't really suit my kind of knitting. Which is a shame. And socks are *excellent* things to knit—I'm wearing my first-ever pair right now.

I start at the toe—it's brilliant. I produced most of two pairs during rehearsals for The Winter's Tale last year, although in the early stages of sock, it was suggested that I might be knitting something to keep a gentleman's appendage warm...

I'm Nestholder on Ravelry, but I haven't been doing anything much there, just looking through other people's stuff and accumulating patterns.
