Well, the performance on Saturday night went off quite nicely. To recap, our production from last November of "The Winter's Tale" was invited to give an abbreviated version at the Questor's Theatre in Ealing, as part of the RSC's Open Stages project. I didn't much enjoy the rehearsal period, as my part consisted of standing in the right place and reacting to what the principals were doing—and really, having done it last autumn, twice a week for several weeks was a bit much. Got a reasonable amount of knitting done, though!

I also felt the director's choice of what to cut was an attempt to include somewhat of every element in the play, whereas I think it would have been a more powerful version if we'd concentrated on the intense drama of the Leontes/Hermione story, ie most of Acts 1, 2 and 3 and the very end of Act 5. Some of that stuff made me cry.

Still, it was interesting to be in a different theatre. Our group is very spoilt, really, having our own space to perform and rehearse in. The Questor's stage is very interesting, different levels and a cool shape, and there's a 'vom' under the auditorium so that actors can reach any of the five (eight, if you include the balcony) different entrances. We had a tech in the afternoon, sorting out positioning and props and sound and lighting, then a quick run, then a pause for tea before the evening's performance.

Not a big audience, but they seemed to enjoy it. We swelled the ranks in the second half, and watched another company's devised play about what happened *after* The Winter's Tale. Some very interesting insights, quite different interpretations of some of the characters, and very good acting. I'm sure those of us who were in TWT must have got a lot more from it than the audience members who'd merely seen TWT.

But phew, what a relief to be done with it!

Yesterday's Body Pump was the new release, and I enjoyed it. Missed going to the gym on Friday for feminine reasons, so I was feeling quite strong for the class, but my goodness, my upper arm and thigh muscles are feeling it today! We had an hour-long dancing lesson, revising five dances in the hope that we may get to use them a bit at the weekend, but there are mutterings about cancelling the dinner dance/masked ball. Boo! I had surprised my Beast (who'd forgotten it was our anniversary) this morning with a book, so we went out for lunch after the lesson and found a curry place that does a weekday lunch menu, Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian, different for each day of the week. Very nice, too.

And my Bun passed her driving test this morning! \o/

Also, congratulations on your anniversary! It goes in a flash, doesn't it? suddenly you realize all those years have gone by!
