Tea, cake and knitting—can there be a more civilised way to spend an evening? I ventured into town on my own this evening to find a craft evening in a local tea shop, which I must say serves *excellent* cake. I met someone else who was there for the first time, and we had a delightful natter, so I count that a definite success.

I had been feeling the twitch of a bit too much marital togetherness, so it was good to go off without Beast. Who—I trust—had a very pleasing evening at home with his computer.

We Body Balanced this morning and then had a go at Aquafit, which turned out to be a good move, albeit exhausting. Beast found the batteries yesterday so our bathroom scales are working again, and telling me I have lost several pounds—which I suspect is my hard-earned muscle. :-( So work is called for.

Tomorrow, and the day after, the children are moving house and we have volunteered to help. As though we had not done enough moving for this decade! Ah, well.

It is every second Thursday, as far as I can tell, which is good because it means I get CAKE every fortnight, \o/

They also run something called 'swishing', which sounds like a cleverly worked out method of swapping clothes you do not wear for clothes other people do not wear. I don't think I'll be trying that, but you never know.

It's pretty hard to beat, I must say. Although I do need to meet more knitters so that I can have a variety of conversations. However, a nice long chat with someone whom I have a lot in common with was a very good start.

Arg, yes! However, we did manage to prod the children into getting on with their packing, partly by providing them with a very large number of flat boxes and some bubble wrap and paper for china, which was good. And we dismantled (Wednesday) and re-mantled (Thursday morning) their IKEA beds, which was Useful. Although during the morning I happily drove back home to collect the giant velvet curtains (from the dining room, if you remember) for them, and only recollected as I pulled up in front of our garage that I did not have a front door key. :-( Still, it is all practise in finding my way about.
