I harvested rhubarb today for the first time since we moved here. Last year my lovingly transported plant went in to a spot that didn't prove at all fertile, but I moved it in anticipation of builders, and put it somewhere it likes much more. So the rhubarb pieces are softened on the stove with a little sugar and a tin of broken mandarins in syrup, a combination which seems to work very well. We shall eat it with condensed milk tomorrow. Om nom.

And my apple trees are heavy with apples! It is Most Exciting.

Your own apples to pick. That is exciting!

Rhubarb, yay! I love me a good strawberry rhubarb pie (with ice cream, natch). My dad used to eat something similar to what you've made, also over ice cream, which sounds a lot like eating it with condensed milk.

Also, yay for apples! A couple of years ago we had such an apple crop in this area, like we hadn't seen since we moved here. I posted photos of the branches nearly touching the ground because they were so full of apples.

I love rhubarb! When I visited one of my aunts last week she'd made rhubarb crumble. It was so good.

Apples, yay!
