Jul. 10th, 2016 09:11 pmI harvested rhubarb today for the first time since we moved here. Last year my lovingly transported plant went in to a spot that didn't prove at all fertile, but I moved it in anticipation of builders, and put it somewhere it likes much more. So the rhubarb pieces are softened on the stove with a little sugar and a tin of broken mandarins in syrup, a combination which seems to work very well. We shall eat it with condensed milk tomorrow. Om nom.
And my apple trees are heavy with apples! It is Most Exciting.

Date: 2016-07-11 06:38 pm (UTC)Also, yay for apples! A couple of years ago we had such an apple crop in this area, like we hadn't seen since we moved here. I posted photos of the branches nearly touching the ground because they were so full of apples.

Date: 2016-07-12 03:49 pm (UTC)Rhubarb is a shocking price at the supermarket. It's very gratifying to be able to grow our own.
(I see my psychic Random Icon generator is at work again: Pooh is a great one for condensed milk.)
