We have a handsome new path to the front door! It's going to extend a bit and go round to the library and along to the garage side door, but the main bit is there. I walked along it yesterday evening when I came home from chorus.

Some of the chorus sang yesterday at the Hamlet Centre, a day centre for children with disabilities. It's always a lovely experience singing there, as the kids' reactions are so honest - this time there was a boy who was completely enchanted with the singing, and even joined in a bit - in key - and didn't want us to go. I missed the little girl who got up and danced the last two times we sang there, but maybe she isn't there on Thursdays.

FIL's giant fridge-freezer has arrived. It doesn't fit under the cupboards in the utility room. He knew that, because he measured in there. He decided it would have to go in front of the spare washing machine, where there's currently a row of hooks bearing such things as brooms. He hasn't made any attempt to remove the row of hooks, so this huge grey box is just standing in the middle of the room. *sigh*

Is there a reason your FIL needs a huge fridge-freezer? Or just being awkward.

Oh, just being awkward, I think! It's actually not what he needs at all. He has been freezing quantities of courgette and/or squash soup, and also the copious runner beans, and I have no quarrel with this. However, he has very nearly filled up the rather undersized freezer portion of his Big Grey Thing, and has been muttering about needing another freezer. Which we told him was what he needed - a tall freezer which would fit under the high cupboards. I'd even offered to move our own freezer to its new niche in the new kitchen. But no. The Big Grey Box is a Which? best buy, and was therefore Just The Thing. It is not what he needs, but he will never admit that.

And now, he has ordered a small fridge. There is as yet nowhere to put it.

Can you tell I'm a bit frustrated about this?
