It is thirty degrees today! Thirty! Geez.

Beast and I spent the afternoon in the cool of the cinema watching The Incredibles 2 (fun! cute! a bit loud!) and when we came out there was an actual hot breeze wafting about. And we walked home and had a pint of squash and now I'm sitting here *melting*.

Thirty! This is un-British.

I keep being logged out by DW, so maybe they just re-set everything to a default warning state? I didn't put a warning there... Very odd.

Nope! Odd goings-on. I'm using Firefox, and I wonder if the being logged out issue is something to do with a Firefox update. So many of my passwords work with this browser that it'll be a pain to change my default, but I may yet have to get there.

I had to calculate that in F, and yeah, 86 sucks donkey balls, especially if you're not used to it. Stay cool and keep hydrated!

It's not too bad during the day, but our bedroom thermometer was clocking 25 this afternoon, and I *hate* sleeping in a hot room. *woe*

Open every window you can, including fanlights downstairs if you have a downstairs. Leave your bedroom door OPEN as this significantly increases air flow.

also, keep curtains open when a room is too hot and the sun isn't coming in there, but closed when the sun is on that side. Makes a big difference.

I open the bedroom curtains once the sun moves round (as it is often hotter than the outside by then) and that allows it to lose a bit of heat before I go to bed.

Luckily, we have a dressing room and ensuite that allow a bit of air flow, but yes, curtains shut, windows open... except that today, it's *way* hotter outside than in. My poor cats in their beautiful fur coats!

If it was the Odeon, it's always ridiculously loud in there! I take acoustic earplugs to the cinema these days.

Hope you managed to get some sleep last night, apparently it was down to 20C by 4am.

It is, and earplugs are not a bad idea. Perhaps I should keep them in my handbag.

Oh maud I know. We're not quite getting the temperatures you are (and it's set to be cooler this week), but everything here is just simmering. The garden smells like hay, which is very nice but not what a lawn is meant to smell like, the dogs are flopped all over the place, the trees are dropping leaves like they think it's autumn... and I'm melting. I've actually put a summer-weight duvet on the bed, all by itself.

If you were able to get a fan before they all sold out, putting a pan of water (or better, ice) in front of it will help cool a room.

Our grass is pale yellow and crispy, and hasn't grown for ages. I don't understand how the weeds manage to keep growing, in such circumstances. But we are due for rain this weekend, just in time for Pride and Fibre East. Sigh.
