Went to see Captain Marvel yesterday. :-)



I am now eyeing Princess Fluffykins with more wariness than usual.

Hee. I went home and told my cats one of their cousins was a movie star. That is, four of their cousins, since there were four Goose actors. It was brilliant that they credited the cats.

Other opinions on the movie? I had a lot of confused feelings that don't quite rise to the level of opinions. Except, the Earth setting was definitely Southern California (before it moved to Louisiana) instead of generic. Something about the buildings and the sky, as well as the incidental palm trees and desert scrub.

I enjoyed it. A very interesting origins story - I'm not a comics reader and knew essentially nothing about the character before seeing the film, so I wasn't expecting anything in particular, but this was an interesting set-up. I thought the way things began in confusion and suddenly became clear was nicely done. Not so convoluted that nobody can make sense of it, but satisfyingly complicated.

Liked the banter between Carol and Fury very much. Didn't care for photoshopped!Coulson, honestly I would have thought they could do a hell of a lot of that with a hairpiece and makeup, but he ended up with Hugo Weaving-esque sharp edges, which was weird. Fury came off rather better, I thought.

Oh, and I liked the 'Indiana Jones' moment when Carol declined the silly option of fighting with her ex boss and went for the blaster instead. Quite right, too.

Overall, an enjoyable experience, particularly for the lovely friendship between Carol and her fellow pilot, the awesome kid, and the very welcome lack of token romances. Also, Goose!
