Would you like to waste some time today?
Apr. 3rd, 2020 04:59 pmI am a champion procrastinator, and today have two time-wasting opportunities to offer you.
Via MetaFilter, I discovered Colors.lol.
Its primary attraction may be the, hmm, inventive colour names, eg snail-paced soft pink, isotopic light periwinkle, multicoloured sepia (???), and merciful seafoam green. These are undoubtedly more fun than the standard paint descriptors.
They are set out in colour palettes of three at a time. Some of the three-colour combos are lovely, others hideous.
If you have nothing better to do, how about selecting a colour palette for:
a) your dream kitchen
b) your dream bedroom
c) your dream sitting room
d) your outfit to go to a Royal Garden Party
e) something else?
There are handy links supplied for each palette. I wonder what the choices say about us? Are the links you find for your 'ideal' close to what you actually have?
I'm going to put my answers in comments.

If you are looking for even more mindless entertainment, how about taking this personality quiz? It gives you your closest match to literary/fictional characters. I got Luna Lovegood which… yeah, actually, not bad. At least, in my present mood/state of mind, that seems reasonable. In another state of mind my answers would differ. Nextmost are Jake Sisko and Georgiana Darcy. I've forgotten most of DS9, but Georgiana does seem a reasonable match. Happy to see that Bill Rawls (The Wire) and Ervin Burrell (also The Wire) are in the bottom ten, along with a bunch of characters I don't recognise.
You get the option of answering some extra questions - they'll ask you which media you're familiar with, and then do some personality questions for some of the characters.
Any more dreamy, slightly dopey witches out there?
Oh, and when you answer, how appropriate can you make your userpic?

Date: 2020-04-03 04:11 pm (UTC)a) dream kitchen In actual fact, my kitchen is more like, um, unvirginal white, snotty sage green and muscular silver, but this would be the nicest kitchen of those offered.
b) bedroom although this one is the closest to what it currently is
c) sitting room it has to be a combination of these two. Hard to choose… my sitting room is indeed in shades of red, brown, orange, beige and cream. It's very Me.
d) Garden Party A dash of bright colour with classy green, an outfit fit to meet the Queen.
e) for the Extra option, an outfit for performing at a barbershop convention The more, er, neon expressions are not unknown on the stage, but no. Please.

Date: 2020-04-03 05:16 pm (UTC)I got Nelson Bighetti (Silicon Valley) for my character. I've never watched the show so have no idea if it's close.

Date: 2020-04-04 08:36 am (UTC)That's one of the nicest combos. I like blue and yellow, too. In fact, I think my son's bedroom was done in cheerful yellow, with dark blue curtains and bedspread. So many fabulous colour combinations! We're a bit restrained here at the moment, as most of the house is painted white... but, hmm, thinking about it, the kitchen/dining room is white and sage, our bedroom is pink and green (to go with the duvet cover and existing curtains), the main guest bedroom is white and light blue, and the other bedrooms have sparkly orange walls. So maybe reasonably colourful after all!
I've no idea who Nelson Bighetti is either. :-(
