Storm Eunice is currently sending down hail. Nice.

That spherical bird feeder works really well to defeat squirrels. Today, however, a mouse has been in there, *gorging* its little self. It may yet get too rotund to leave the sphere. Earlier, a blue tit arrived and intimidated it into running down the branch, but it returned.

We also had a couple of what I think must be long-tailed tits, occasional visitors.

I'm pretty sure Sable brought a mouse in last night, from her defensive and sneaky behaviour. But I have seen no sign of it. She's been sitting on her high perch in the library today. Boy is working in there: he didn't go to work because of the storm, and the radiators in his bedroom were being sorted today. I think the cat quite liked the company, particularly since there were Strange Men in the house.

Beast has been wrestling with the innards of the boiling tap. The tank is/was FULL of limescale. Hmph. It's wonderful when it is working, but the customer service is a bit rubbish - they were supposed to send both an instruction booklet and an invoice, and we received neither. Hmph again. Beast is a pretty good engineer, so no doubt he will figure it out, but. Hmph. I am not quite used to the rhythm of using a kettle, and keep mis-timing things.

I enjoy the thought of the mouse just sitting there gorging. It must have thought all its Christmases and birthdays had come at once.

You would have thought an instruction booklet was a vital thing to send. Good luck to Beast with the struggle!

I did get that impression from the mouse, yes! Did not have the heart to roar at it the way I roar at squirrels.

Beast has now reassembled the device, and is preparing to test it.

I don't like hail, but at least if I'm indoors the worst it does is make a racket against the skylight. Being out in it is to be avoided!

The storm wasn't too bad, though it blew out a fence panel and seems to have caused a large limb of a tree at the far end of the garden to break! My sister lives in Devon and had it much worse.

Have not seen the mouse today or yesterday, somewhat to my surprise. I rather expected it to bring friends!

I hope you survived the rest of the storm! It's snowing heavily here right now but it's supposed to turn to rain soon and it looks like we'll escape the hard winds this time.

I bet that was a very, very happy mouse :-) I envy you your lont-tailed visitors! I've seen them in the woods but none of them have visited my feeders this year.

Hopefully she was just being sneaky because she felt like it! Strange Men in her house, how horrible!!

One of our plumbers was unable to get home as both the main road and the back road were impeded by fallen trees, but we're fine here.

Oh, it was *such* a happy little mouse!

Poor Sable has had a great deal to put up with. She had to choose between Lunchtime Snacks and Men In The Dining Room, and did not quite know what to do.

Beast is very useful. Today, we have been sawing tree limbs.

Cats can be so sociable! I hope you are not surprised with a mouse in a less amusing place than the feeder. And I will cross my fingers for ultimately victory over the tap.

Our little cat is getting better at accepting the presence of People in her house, but she doesn't approve. No-one has yet thought to bribe her with cheese (which worked for Boy).

The tap is so annoying! My timings are still off.

I'm glad that Sable has decided that Boy is One Of Her Humans, sufficient to offer defence from Strange Men (and hope any mice have made their escape back into the outside world!)

Boy has the advantage of feeding her on occasion! Particularly if we are out for the day at a rehearsal. Dear me, he has been living her for more than six months now.

The cat was making definite "there is a MOUSE!" moves this evening, but all I could actually find was a cotton reel. Which she *may* have been pursuing.
