pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Default)
Fortunately I did not have to perform this evening, but instead was running around like a mad thing on waitress duty. Show went well, and afterwards most of us went out for a curry - which was also a bit of a madhouse!

Day 6: When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?

When I did my ST:TNG stories I was quite likely to use a female POV, and several fics featured the female members of the Enterprise's staff (and some OCs). Other stories, and my in-my-head-only stories, are likely to feature women.

But with popslash, there's not a lot of scope for writing female characters, and so my default seems to have become male characters. It seems weird, and I worry about it sometimes, but that's what my fandom gives me, really.
pensnest: Lance Bass and Adam Lambert in black and white (Adam and Lance)
7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

I'm interpreting this as 'a fic you've written' rather than a general question about my reading.

Yes. My first Adam Lambert/Lance Bass story was a very interesting experience, because I think writing it was what caused me to fall in love with Adam as a character. I got the inspiration for the story from a few disparate elements - Adam's Rolling Stone interview, Liz Phair's Flower and an Audra MacDonald song, some elements in common between Adam's Type and Lance, and Lance's Type and Adam. But it was writing him, and trying to make him just as much the good guy in the story as Lance was, that really made me like Adam.
