Apr. 24th, 2018 09:57 pmGleaned from Metafilter: the idea that you can turn anything into an insult by putting the word 'absolute' in front of it. You absolute post, for instance. I like it. Whereas putting 'completely' in front of it and adding '-ed' makes it seem you are exhausted or drunk. I'm completely posted. Uh huh.

Beast and I have now got to the end of Black Sails, and I find I am quite interested in catching up on any discussions which might have taken place. Not on Tumblr, though, because I cannot. Anyone recommend any DW or LJ comms? Happily,
vae is going to send me some fic links. Hmmmmm, might actually have to make some icons for it! Yes, that sounds like a good plan. It will leaven the task of selecting chorus photos for our magnificently revamped website.

A phrase I would never have expected to read but did indeed read today: A few years ago, daffodils almost killed a vicar...

My cats are coiled together on the sofa into a single cushion of softness. Sadly, I know that if I approach them they will fission into two separate felines, neither of which wants to be stroked. I shall go to bed instead, after posing the following question:
For your fandom(s) of choice, which (one, preferably) of your own stories would you recommend to a reader who's unfamiliar with the fandom? As a good place to start. And, why that one? (I came upon this question in a post from yearsback, and thought I'd probably answer it differently now, though I'll have to think about it for a day or so before I do.)

Date: 2018-04-25 06:46 am (UTC)Serendipitously appeared above your request in my reading list. I cannot yet contribute because I am only half way through season 2...

Date: 2018-04-25 08:52 am (UTC)That's an interesting fic question. But one I haven't an answer for atm. What about yours? You must have been thinking about it.

Date: 2018-04-26 02:07 pm (UTC)It occurs to me that I could also do this for ST:TNG, although it will be harder as most of my TNG fic was concentrated on my beloved Data. I think it would have to be A Matter of Timing, because that one has all the main characters, the bridge, the Enterprise actually doing stuff, etc.

Date: 2018-04-28 01:51 pm (UTC)I did manage to get a cushion picture, although they did certainly perk up from their entirely relaxed posture.
Last night both of them came and sat with me, so I was stroking in parallel (which was lovely). Poor timing, of course, as I'd just turned off the telly and was about to go to bed. But Fluffy purred, so.
